πŸ‘‹ Hola {{first_name | estudiante}},

A quick check-in before the week ends.

This week in class, I kept repeating something I want to share with you, too:

Adults CAN learn new languages β€” and often faster than they think.

Here are a few reminders you shouldn’t forget:

  • Adults often learn faster at the beginning because we already know how to learn.

  • Regular listening and watching matter more than intensive grammar study.

  • Real-life content: Shows, podcasts, music, builds intuition, not just memory.

  • And the biggest predictor of progress? Frequency, not talent.

So today, instead of a long lesson, here’s something simple you can do this weekendπŸ‘‡

🎬 Something to Watch in Spanish

Even 10–15 minutes helps. Here are two good options:

  1. πŸ“Ί Serie on Netflix: Bienvenidos a la Familia

A mother in dire straits rallies her quirky family to con a mobster after her estranged, wealthy father dies and leaves them with a huge debt.

Watch the trailer here:

  1. πŸŽ₯ PelΓcula en Netflix: La Sociedad de la Nieve

An intense and dramatic film, based on real events, with clear dialogue and strong emotional scenes.

πŸ“š Quick lesson: Stop Translating These Literally

Sometimes we say things in Spanish the way we say them in English… and they come out just a little wrong. Especially

when the expression has an indirect object pronoun (me, te, le, nos, les)

Spanish uses pronouns, not β€œa ti / a Γ©l / a ella” in many everyday expressions, and using the literal form instantly sounds wrong.

❌ Incorrect (Literal Translation)

βœ… Natural Spanish

English Meaning

EscribΓ a ti

Te escribΓ

I wrote to you

LlamΓ© a ti

Te llamΓ©

I called you

PreguntΓ© a ella

Le preguntΓ©

I asked her
