🎧 5 Audio Lessons to Kickstart Your Spanish Journey

Hola estudiante,
Bienvenido/a a una nueva edición de Master Spanish Weekly
Every week, I share short, practical lessons, stories, and resources to help you integrate Spanish into your life, so you don’t just study it, you live it.
🏃🏻♂️ My First 5K

First 5k in Florence, TX.
Last weekend, I ran my first 5K in 26 minutes and 27 seconds. Not bad for my first one, but I’ll be honest: it wasn’t easy.
Somewhere between kilometers 3 and 4, I started to feel my legs getting heavy, and I wanted to start walking, but I kept going and finished in less time than I had expected.
When I crossed the finish line and saw my time, I was surprised. Then, I thought, “C’mon, you trained for this, don’t be surprised”. I realized that when you commit to something and keep showing up, you’ll always go further than you initially expected.
You know I’m going to say the following: It’s the same with learning Spanish 😊.
You’ll hit that point where it feels hard. When grammar confuses you, or you forget words you thought you knew. But if you keep moving, sentence by sentence, conversation by conversation, you’ll surprise yourself with how much you can do.
Just like running, fluency isn’t about speed. It’s about consistency.
And this week’s lesson is all about that first milestone. Your first 5K in Spanish.
🎯 My next goal: 10K in December. I’ll keep you posted 🏃🏻♂️
🏁 Lesson of the Week: Your First 5K in Spanish
When you start running, you don’t think about a marathon. You just aim to finish that first 5K. Learning Spanish works the same way.
At New Way Spanish (soon to be Vokally), the beginner stage is your first 5K. It’s where you build rhythm, vocabulary, and confidence. One step (and one sentence) at a time.
Here’s what your first 5K in Spanish looks like 👇
🥇 Kilometer 1 — Introduce Yourself
Learn to say who you are, where you’re from, and what you do. You’ll sound natural with sentences like:
“Hola, me llamo Alejandro.”
“Soy de Venezuela.”
“Tengo 37 años”
“Soy instructor de Español”.
🥈 Kilometer 2 — Build Your Vocabulary
Learn 20+ nouns and verbs you can actually use — not random ones from a textbook. You’ll describe your world with words like:
mi casa, mi trabajo, mi familia…
el restaurante, el supermercado, el parque, el museo…
¡Vamos!, gracias, de nada, mucho gusto, hasta luego…
Trabajar, comer, vivir…
🥉 Kilometer 3 — Express Yourself
Start using everyday phrases that make your Spanish sound alive:
“Me gusta el café.” (I like coffee.)
“Vamos a caminar.” (Let’s go for a walk.)
“Tengo que trabajar.” (I have to work.)
“¡Qué bueno!” (That’s great!)
“Voy a aprender Español" (I’m going to learn Spanish”.)
🎯 Kilometer 4 — Keep Conversations Going
Learn how to start, maintain, and end a short conversation:
This is where Spanish starts to feel like a conversation, not a translation.
- Hola, ¿Cómo te llamas?
- Hola, soy Alejandro, y tú?
- Soy Roxana. Mucho gusto.
- Igualmente. ¿De dónde eres Roxana?
…
🏆 Kilometer 5 — Talk About Your World
Use everything you’ve learned to talk about your family, daily routine, and surroundings:
“Mi hermano se llama Aldo y vive en Michigan.”
“Me levanto a las seis de la mañana todos los días.”
“Mi casa está cerca de muchos restaurantes”
“Tengo un hijo de 10 años”
Once you finish these 5K goals, you’ll have the foundation for real communication — not just memorized phrases.

Gracias por estar aquí, por aprender, y por seguir practicando cada semana.
No olvides: lo más importante no es hacerlo perfecto, sino hacerlo posible.
Nos vemos la próxima semana.
Un abrazo,
Alejandro.
